You are welcome to create a website with any website creator software. The most popular used by students previously in this course, apart from Blogger, are: Wix, Weebly, WordPress. It needs to have:
- a free version
- tutorials to help
- an easy interface to work with (this often means a drag and drop interface for elements)
- preferably no annoying adverts or upgrade demands.
I have created websites using Wordpress, Weebly, Wix and Joomla. Also - Blogger, as this is created using Blogger.
The reasons I advocate for students to use Blogger for this assessment are that:
- it is free with a GMail account
- there is no higher product to upgrade to - it is fully functional. So no annoying ads or pop-ups announcing "sorry, that is a premium feature, please upgrade".
- you can create a meaningful url
- it has many features of expensive websites, including attractive templates.
- the learning curve isn't too steep - and I provide videos to assist you.
- For me, this all adds up to the main point regarding the Digital Divide. Because of the above features, you can get your students to also use Blogger with least amount of hassle, especially no students having to put up with an inferior design because they couldn't afford premium features.
You may have different backgrounds or expertise in creating websites and wish to go your own way - that is perfectly okay!
